Best Indian Restaurants in London

I love Indian food.  I’ve been to India a few times and have a long standing relationship with the food there! Fortunately I live in London where you can get some excellent Indian food. Here are the best Indian restaurants in London for me so far:
My favourite Indian restaurant is Durbar in Bayswater.  The karai and Lorient Special Chicken are delicious.  It’s a locals restaurant on Hereford Road and the food is always good there.
Further west, Indian Zing in King Street between Hammersmith and Ravenscourt Park is worth a detour.
Brick Lane is well known for its Indian restaurants, but for me it’s overrated. I’m yet to have an outstanding dish from any of its establishments – sort it out Brick Lane! Escape the touts and take a 10 minute walk down the road to the famous Tayaabs, and excellent Lahore Kebab House, near Whitechapel.  Both serve excellent food and Lahore Kebab House is BYO too.
For Indian street food, Dishoom is consistently good (go on a Monday and the restaurant will pay your bill if you roll a 6 on a dice).
For lunch, the wraps at Moolis in Soho are fabulous, and Roti Chai, just behind Selfridges near Marble Arch is also good.
For expensive posh Indian food, Rasoi in Sloane Square, and Zaika near High Street Kensington are worth looking into.
